黑料吃瓜在线永久 Academy Trust Celebrates a Strong Set of Post-16 Results

Today, students across our sixth forms are celebrating receiving their A Level and vocational results and progressing to leading universities, apprenticeships and employment, as grading nationally returns to pre-pandemic levels.

In a year where outcomes, nationally, have returned to 2019 levels, 黑料吃瓜在线永久 Academy Trust students have improved on the performance of their counterparts from 2019. The results highlight the incredible work of staff and students and the continued outstanding sixth form performance across our family of schools.

I couldn鈥檛 be prouder of our students, who have worked incredibly hard to achieve such positive outcomes, and our staff, who constantly strive to unlock the academic and personal potential of all our young people.鈥

黑料吃瓜在线永久 High School and Sixth Form achieved over 100 A*-A grades with 50 students gaining at least one A* or A. Subjects that saw particular success included Maths, where 42% of students achieved a grade A* or A grade, as well as 40% of students studying Computer Science. Furthermore, over a third of students studying Chemistry achieved a grade A* or A. In addition, 100% of students studying dance single and double award achieved a grade Distinction* and 77% of students studying Health and Social achieved a Distinction.

Here are some standout individual achievements:

  • Ella Baldock successfully achieved A*A A in Psychology, History and Law and has secured her place to study History at University of Durham 
  • Hannah Bate successfully achieved A*A A in Psychology, Geography and History and has secured her place at University of Cardiff to study Psychology with a work placement 
  • Aya Hameed successfully achieved A* A* A in Religious Studies, Sociology and Graphic Communication and has secured her place at University of Birmingham to study Politics with Sociology
  • Tom Forrest successfully achieved  A*A A A in Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Further Maths and has secured his place at University of Birmingham to study Medicine.

Aspire Sixth Form at Cheslyn Hay Academy and Great Wyrley Academy

Aspire Sixth students achieved 43 A*-A grades with 21 students gaining at least one A* or A. 11 students achieved three or more A*-A grades. Students who studied vocational qualifications achieved an average grade of Distinction. 

Subjects that saw particular success included BTEC Sport, where the average grade was Distinction*; History A Level, where 20% of students gained an A*; and Physics, Politics, and Sociology A Levels, which all had more than 30% of students achieving an A* or A grade.

Here are some standout individual achievements:

  • Freya Chinnery, who secured 2 A*s in History and English Literature and an A in Politics, will be heading to York University to study History
  • Katie Rowley, who achieved A* in History and As in Sociology and Government and Politics, will be heading to Churchill College, Cambridge to study History
  • Meghan Story (Edinburgh), Finn Pickering (Birmingham) and Louis Beesley (Aston) who all achieved 2 grade As and an A*
  • Josh Mermod (Warwick), Emilia Jones (York), Evie Gallimore (Wolverhampton) and Ethan Davies (Leeds) who all got straight As or Distinction*s
  • Hannah Trubshaw (Wolverhampton), who achieved triple Distinction* in BTEC Sport

Kelly Moore, Headteacher at Great Wyrley Academy, and Tom Macdonald, Headteacher at Cheslyn Hay Academy, said: 

鈥淲e are incredibly pleased to see our students perform so well: they have weathered the storm of COVID and emerged stronger. This year, grading has returned to pre-pandemic levels and our students have achieved some incredible results, securing their chosen university course or apprenticeship programme. We have been overwhelmed by the joy and success of our young people, which is well deserved following tremendous effort and determination from both students and staff.鈥
